“The Russians are still trying to reach us”: a CNN Portugal reporter visited PFVMH’s “secret” base

The Pirogov First Volunteer Mobile Hospital leader, Gennady Druzenko, briefed CNN Portugal reporter Helena Lins on the work of the PFVMH during Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

The interview was recorded at the rear base of the hospital Druzenko called “secret,” as the enemy keeps on trying to “reach” them with their missiles and drones.

Druzenko emphasized that there are days when volunteer medics have to treat a hundred of the wounded or more.

The reporter also asked the PFVMH leader about the morale of Ukrainian men and women who have been fighting for almost two years.

According to Druzenko, it is not surprising that the defenders of Ukraine on the front lines are “physically and sometimes psychologically exhausted.” At the same time, he is inspired by the fact that they are “full of decisiveness to continue fighting.”
